Just one week after Andy Ruiz Jr.’s incredible upset over Anthony Joshua at Madison Square Garden, New York, Steve Rolls will be looking to pull off an upset of his own in the historic venue when he takes on Gennady Golovkin in a 164-pound catchweight bout.

The stakes aren’t quite as high this time around at MSG. Unlike Joshua, Golovkin (38-1-1, 34 KOs) isn’t defending any titles, nor is his record perfect. Golovkin has Saul “Canelo” Alvarez to thank for that. After fighting to a draw in late 2017 in a world middleweight title clash, the two met in the ring again in September 2018. That time, Alvarez eked out a majority decision in a thrilling contest.

Former middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin returns to the ring, and he’ll also be making his DAZN debut on Saturday from Madison Square Garden in New York. Here is a look at the viewing information for Saturday’s event.

The Draw

After a nine-month absence, Golovkin will return to take on Steve Rolls in a catchweight fight contested at 164 pounds. Golovkin is the heavy favorite, and few give Rolls a chance to pull the upset. It’s the second weekend in a row that we’ll see what looks like a huge mismatch on paper in the main event at MSG. Last weekend’s fight didn’t go as expected as Andy Ruiz Jr. shocked the world by knocking out Anthony Joshua in the seventh round.

The No. 2 fighter in the middleweight division makes his 2019 debut Saturday night when Gennady “GGG” Golovkin takes on Steve Rolls in a 164-pound catchweight fight.

For Golovkin, this is the first fight in a three-year, six-fight deal with DAZN streaming network, the sole platform with rights to Saturday’s main card. This is his first fight since relinquishing his WBA, WBO and IBO middleweight titles to Saul “Canelo” Alvarez last September.

Golovkin (38-1-1, 34 KOs), whose only loss and draw came at the hands of Alvarez, takes on Steve Rolls (19-0, 10 KOs) this Saturday at the Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Rolls is coming off a unanimous decision victory over DeAndre Leatherwood on December 15, 2018. There are no belts on the line, but the fight has a similar feel to Andy Ruiz-Anthony Joshua. Golovkin is using this fight as a tune-up for a third bout with Alvarez, while Rolls is an immense underdog with nothing to lose.
